Saudi tanker NCC SAMA contacted berthed Taiwanese Navy Knox-class frigate NING YANG (FF-938) at around 0130 LT Mar 9 on arrival to Keelung Port, Taiwan, while maneuvering in harbor. Frigate sustained hull dent or dents in fore portside area (other sources mention hull or upper deck breach), no information on tanker damages, but there was no leak. Tanker is to be detained after completing cargo operation, Navy Command said they’re going to get compensation from tanker owner. No explanation given yet on cause or causes of collision.
