Container ship ALDEBARAN J and container ship MARRY-S collided while proceeding on reciprocal courses in Western Scheldt, off Vlissingen, at around 0420 UTC Jun 28. Both ships sustained damages and were brought to anchor at Vlissingen Scheldt Anchorage. According to Dutch reports, ALDEBARAN J suffered bow damages, and MARRY-S sustained hull breach. According to screenshots from a short video, MARRY-S portside bow looks to suffer heavy damages, fore mast is dented. ALDEBARAN J appears to be intact, though there’s something like dent portside bow above waterline. Container ship was en route to Antwerp, while MARRY-S left Antwerp and was heading for sea. As of 1230 UTC, both ships were still at anchor in the same position.
