General cargo ship MING AN with 14 Indonesian crew on board issued distress signal at 0138 CST Oct 18, reporting sinking, crew abandoning ship 36 nm west of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Taiwan Strait. MRCC launched SAR, CG boats located life raft or rafts, 13 were picked up from life raft, 1 crew went missing but thankfully, was found and rescued by fishing vessel. No details on MING AN disaster, capsizing was mentioned, also fuel pipes fault. Probably the ship was disabled after engine failure and fell victim to adverse weather in the area, being turned broadside to battering waves. As of 0530 UTC Oct 18 status of the ship was unknown, she may sank or be still afloat.
