Heavy lift crane ship LIAO HE YI HAO suffered hugging during wind farm construction works in Yellow sea in fish farms zone north of Shanghai on Sep 4. Vessel’s stern and fore sagged and rested on a sandy bottom. Since Sep 4, salvage is under way. Accident understood to be caused by miscalculations in heavyweight equipment installation. Fuel was already pumped off the ship, salvage is restricted by shallow waters around distressed LIAO HE YI HAO, a lot of salvage equipment has to be transported by small boats.
