General cargo vessel MURAT HACIBEKIROGLU 2 issued distress signal via VHF at 1400 TRT (UTC+3) Sep 19, reporting list and water ingress in the aft, understood engine room, in vicinity 36 06N 031 34E, Mediterranean, northwest of Cyprus, some 35 nm southwest of Alanya, Turkey. Turkish MRCC couldn’t contact vessel, nearby container ship ELECTRA A was sent to the distressed vessel. At 1500 TRT the crew abandoned MURAT HACIBEKIROGLU 2 and went into life boats. At 1530 vessel sank, 10 crew were rescued and brought to Alanya. Veseel was en route from Iskenderun to Aslan Cemento, Darica, Marmara sea.
