Tanker NADEZHDA grounded at 0120 Moscow time Nov 28 in position 46 41N 141 52E, during heaving up anchor, in stormy weather with onshore wind. Tanker has on board 793 tons of oil, including cargo and bunker: 433 tons of diesel oil and 360 tons of heavy fuel. Vessels’ hull was breached starboard, in engine room area and Tank No.2 area. Engine room was flooded, cargo leak from Tank 2. A deck officer was medevaced in the morning Nov 29 with injured head and broken collar bone, the rest of the crew remained on board. Vessel was stabilized, booms were set up. In the morning Nov 30 pumping out of diesel oil began, fuel is pumped into oil lorries on shore. Breaches are being patched. Weather calm. Salvage tug Rubin is providing stable positioning of the vessel. A special salvage team of Sakhalin branch of State Maritime Salvage Agency of Rosmorrechflot and technicians from Island General Service Co. (Sakhalin Branch of Ministry of Emergency) are engaged in salvage. An offshore supply and firefighting vessel Otto Shmidt (IMO 8418590) is also engaged in salvage.

Tanker NADEZHDA grounded by storm, hull breached
Storm raging over Sakhalin island, Russia, pushed aground product tanker NADEZHDA, vessel grounded on a coast near Nevelsk port, southern Sakhalin, Tatarskiy Strait. Vessel reported grounding at around 0830 Sakhalin time Nov 28, hull breached in engine room area. Vessel with some 400 tons of diesel oil is en route from Vanino port to Korsakov port, Russia. Tug Rubin (IMO:8033883) dispatched to assist tanker, tug left Korsakov at 1030 Sakhalin time.
