Bulk carrier SPARNA grounding, Columbia river

Bulk carrier SPARNA with pilot on board ran aground at 0016 LT Mar 21 in Columbia river near Cathlamet, Washington, while proceeding down river with cargo of grain. Vessel was soon refloated with the help of tugs, and anchored near grounding site, for patching the holes. Vessel was breached with ensuing water ingress in reportedly, “void spaces”.
