Mega container ship COSCO ENGLAND drifted aground at around 2300 UTC Oct 7 on Vladivostok outer anchorage near Skryplev islet lighthouse, Japan sea, Russia. The ship was receiving bunker fuel from tanker, when in strong morning wind anchor dragged, and COSCO ENGLAND started to drift. Bunkering operation stopped, tanker unmoored and safely moved away. Several tugs assisted in refloating attempts, container ship was refloated at around 0230 UTC according to track.
As of now, 0245 UTC, COSCO ENGLAND is moving away from islet. No information on damages. COSCO ENGLAND called Vladivostok for the purpose of bunkering, as many large cargo ships do during last 2-3 years. Her loop port of call after Vladivostok is probably, Tianjin, China, en route from Oakland USA.
