Car carrier HOEGH LONDON was caught in storm which raged across Mediterranean during weekend, sailing south of Sicily. The ship and her cargo sustained serious damages, Master asked for shelter and was granted Pozzallo call, southern Sicily. The ship was anchored off Pozzallo, and surveyed by a team of technicians on Feb 25. They found a number of damaged vehicles and construction damages on cargo decks. Hull crack was found in cargo deck area, slightly above waterline, ensuing water ingress caused list. The ship is in need of repairs to restore her seaworthiness, it is to be determined yet where to carry out required works. HOEGH LONDON was en route from Tangier to Gemlik Turkey, ETA Feb 26.
