Bulk carrier ZAPOLYARYE will be auctioned in 3 months time, if during this period owner fails to pay all port duties, said Port of Montril Authorities, Mediterranean Spain. The ship arrived at Montril on Sep 19 2018 on tow, after being stranded in Ceuta for some 2.5 months, due to debt-ridden owner insolvency. Murmansk Shipping Co., Murmansk, owner of the ship, couldn’t and yet, can’t, pay port dues, can’t even pay for fuel required to sail to Russian North. Ship’s value is some 7 mil euro, plus 600,000 euro worth cargo of salt. If the ship is auctioned, part of raised sum will cover crew’s salaries and salary debt, the rest (most of it?) will reportedly, go to government.
