Update: One more ship broke off her moorings – general cargo ship MARIO CTM, said to be under maintenance repairs, in ballast. The ship was taken under control by tugs and brought to berth, no damages inflicted to MARIO CTM or other ships, or port constructions.
Cruise ship CELEBRITY CONSTELLATION broke off her moorings at La Spezia port, Italy, in the afternoon Oct 29, in stormy weather with strong wind. The ship started to drift and contacted berthed nearby cruise ship COSTA MAGICA (IMO 9239795, GT 102784), before tugs managed to take her under control and put back to pier. Both ships reportedly, sustained slight damages. As of 1700 UTC Oct 29, both ships remained berthed at La Spezia. Photo La Nazione La Spezia.
