Six workers from stevedoring company ISO have been poisoned by carbon monoxide on board of a bulk carrier NORD YILAN, docked at Napier port, New Zealand, in the evening Apr 30. As of May 1, all were discharged from hospital. What happened exactly, isn’t yet clear –NORD YILAN was chartered by Emslaw One timber company, and was in the process of loading logs, when accident took place. Six injured people inhaled accumulated carbon monoxide emitted by, according to Port Authorities, a turbo motor. Maybe it was some mechanism like forklift, transferred into hold for logs handling?
