General cargo vessel ESL AFRICA ran aground southwest of Oxelosund, Sweden, Baltic sea, at around 1830 UTC Oct 21, some 2 hours after departing from Norkkoping, Sweden, en route to Dakar Senegal. No leak reported, vessel is monitored by Swedish CG, underwater survey to be carried out on Oct 22, prior to refloating. Cause of grounding unknown, but judging from AIS track, some mechanical malfunction may be the cause. Vessel started to reduce speed while taking a sharp starboard turn.
