General cargo vesse VOLGO-DON 203 was pushed ashore by southwest storm lodosun in the evening Dec 2 on the embankment at Kartal, in Tuzla area, Turkey, Marmara sea. Vessel understood to suffer breaches in stern area, reportedly sank or according to photo/video, rested on the bottom, at around 2100 LT. 14 crew rescued. Vessel was en route from Izmir to Rostov. It is not clear why vessel while heading for Bosphorus, turned to Tuzla earlier that day.
Another freighter reportedly, but not confirmed, is Turkish general cargo vessel HILMI K (IMO 8101628), which dragged anchor and was pushed ashore about half a mile north of VOLGO-DON 203 grounding site, crew evacuated.
