Suezmax tankers collided at Dardanelles entrance, Marmara Sea: UPDATE photo

Nov 30 UPDATE: According to latest information, CHRYSSI is responsible for collision, because BESIKTAS BOSPHORUS was at anchor. Both BESIKTAS BOSPHORUS Master and Traffic Control Center warned CHRYSSI on dangerous maneuvering, but to no avail. BESIKTAS BOSPHORUS suffered slight damages portside, including bridge wing, as can be seen on photos. No leak reported.

Suezmax tankers BESIKTAS BOSPHORUS and CHRYSSI collided at 0643 LT Nov 30 at northern entrance Dardanelles, in Marmara Sea. At the time of collision, BESIKTAS BOSPHORUS was anchored, while en route from Novorossiysk to Trieste Italy with cargo of oil, waiting for her transit. CHRYSSI was under way, understood in southern direction, tanker was to enter Dardanelles. CHRYSSI waited for transit at anchorage, understood near BESIKTAS BOSPHORUS, since Nov 22. According to latest available information, there was no leak, maybe it was just a contact, but nevertheless, both tankers’ AIS is off for at least 10 hours.
