BBC COLORADO under tow, Northwest Pacific

General cargo vessel BBC COLORADO issued distress signal on Oct 6, reporting engine failure in stormy weather in North Pacific, south of Aleutian Islands, while en route from Shanghai to Portland. Master reported to USCG reduced speed and restricted maneuverability. Offshore tug RESOLVE PIONEER was sent to distressed vessel on Oct 7, tug took freighter on tow on Oct 9, according to AIS. Coast Guard Cutter Morgenthau approached BBC COLORADO and remained near until arrival of the tug. As of evening Oct 11, the convoy was proceeding towards USA coast at a speed of some 6 knots, some 1000 nm southwest of Juan de Fuca Strait.
