General cargo vessel RIX STAR suffered engine failure in the evening Oct 3 in Baltic sea northwest of Baltiysk, Kaliningrad Region, while en route from Tallinn to Kaliningrad. Disabled vessel was caught in stormy weather and started to drift towards Hel Peninsula, Polish waters. Crew failed to re-start engine, and asked for towage. Polish Ship Salvage tug AGAT was contracted, she took troubled freighter on tow in the afternoon Oct 4. As of 1400 UTC Oct 4 the convoy was sailing at some 5 knots speed in eastern direction, most probably towards Kaliningrad.
