EMERALD EXPRESS was 25 nm behind EL FARO, still stranded in mangrove swamp

Landing craft EMERALD EXPRESS was caught in hurricane Joaquin and pushed aground on Oct 1 on Crooked Island. Vessel was thrown 21 miles inland to Horse Pond, Crooked Island, where she is still remaining, in a mangrove swamp. Four out of eight crew are still on board. Salvage is due to start this week, reportedly taking vessel back to sea will take a month or so. Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC) said to be engaged in salvage. Lost in hurricane US ship El Faro was 25 nm ahead of EMERALD EXPRESS, those on the bridge overheard radio talks between El Faro and USCG. On a photo from tribune242.com stranded EMERALD EXPRESS.
